The Day Book is PriceSynergy's daily trading report for Mirakl marketplace sellers. It lists every order taken on a day with its sales, commission, cost, gross profit and margin, across all your marketplaces, and emails yesterday's figures to your team each morning, compared with the same day last week.
Key takeaways
- Margin is measured per order line, after the marketplace's commission, not estimated from a monthly total.
- A 30-day margin trend shows whether a bad day is a blip or part of a slide.
- The morning email flags anything sold at a loss and sales still missing a cost price.
- The Day Book and its email are on every plan.
Why do marketplace sellers need a daily trading report?
Most marketplace sellers find out how a month went at the end of it. By then, a product that slipped below break-even has been selling at a loss for weeks, and a rival who took the PayBox on a best seller has had three weeks of your orders.
Commission is the part that hides the problem. B&Q, Tesco, The Range and Argos each take a commission on every sale, set by category or by contract. Revenue can look healthy while margin after commission quietly falls. A daily report built from your own order lines shows it the next morning.
What does the Day Book show?
Pick any day and the Day Book lists every order taken on it, UK time, with five figures on each:
| Figure | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Sales | What the shopper paid for the order line |
| Commission | The marketplace's cut, read from the order line in Mirakl |
| Cost | Your cost price, from the costs you imported |
| Gross profit | What's left after commission and cost |
| Margin | Gross profit as a percentage of sales |
Above the orders, a chart of the last 30 days' margin with a trendline shows whether the day was a blip or part of a slide. Click any day on the chart to open it. You can see a summary for each marketplace, or the orders grouped by marketplace, and export the day's order lines to CSV.
What's in the Day Book email?
The Day Book email sends yesterday's trading to the people you choose, before the working day starts. It includes:
- Yesterday's sales, orders, gross profit and margin, each compared with the same day last week.
- A line for each marketplace, so you see which one drove the day.
- The 30-day margin trend.
- Your top sellers.
- Anything sold at a loss, so it can be fixed today rather than at month end.
- Sales still missing a cost price, so the margin figures keep getting more complete.
One click from the email opens the full Day Book. Admins choose the time, the days and who gets it in Settings, and can send it now to see exactly what the team will get.
Illustrative example. Tuesday's email shows sales up 8% on last Tuesday but margin down from 21% to 17%. The loss list shows two garden products sold below break-even after a supplier cost rise. The marketplace manager raises their min prices before 10am, and Wednesday's margin is back above 20%.
How does the Day Book show what drove the sales?
If you monitor price changes as campaigns, each order shows a chip for every campaign its products are in, linked straight to the campaign. Products monitored on their own show as Monitored, and orders with several products show the campaigns on each line. When a day goes well, you can see which change is paying off. Monitoring is on Growth and Scale.
Who in the team should get the Day Book email?
- Founders and managing directors, for a two-minute read on how yesterday went across every marketplace.
- eCommerce directors, to catch a margin slide while it's one day old.
- Marketplace managers, who act on the loss list and missing costs.
- Finance, for gross margin after commission without waiting for month end.

How does the Day Book fit with the rest of PriceSynergy?
The Day Book tells you what happened. The rest of PriceSynergy tells you why and what to do next: PayBox tracking shows where a rival took your sales, margin-safe pricing fixes prices below break-even, and monitoring shows whether the fix worked. See the Day Book feature page.
Questions sellers ask
Is the Day Book included in every PriceSynergy plan?
Yes. The Day Book and its morning email are on every plan. Campaign chips on orders need Monitoring, which is on Growth and Scale.
Does the Day Book include marketplace commission?
Yes. Commission is read from each order line in Mirakl, so gross profit and margin are after the marketplace's cut.
What if I haven't added my cost prices?
Sales and commission still show. Orders without a cost price are listed in the email as missing a cost, and margin becomes complete as you import costs.
Can the Day Book cover more than one marketplace?
Yes. It covers every marketplace you connect, with a summary for each and a line for each in the email.
Can I choose when the email is sent?
Yes. Admins choose the time, the days and the recipients in Settings, and can send a test straight away.
